15-year-old Xinran Sun wins back-to-back professional titles

Xinran Sun is making a name for herself on the professional level! The 15-year-old Chinese has won back-to-back titles in Sharm El Sheikh, becoming one of the most prominent players born in 2010.

Xinran is the fourth player born in 2010 with the pro title, joining Jana Kovackova, Ida Wobker and Nauhany Vitoria on the exclusive list. The young gun embraced a great run in the Egyptian resort, claiming her first professional success and backing it a week later.

Sun competed as the defending champion in Sharm El Sheikh a week ago and prevailed in the closing stages of the event to lift another trophy and make another jump through the WTA rankings list.

Preserving energy, Xinran defeated Xenia Bandurowska in the first round in 59 minutes. She was even more impressive against Joody Elkady, providing a double bagel in 56 minutes and reaching the quarter-final in impressive style. 

Using that boost, Sun faced Karine Sarkisova in her third straight pro quarter-final and earned a dominant 6-3, 6-0 triumph in an hour for a place in the semi-final. The Chinese dominated on serve and return to control the scoreboard and sail over the top.

A teenager had to work much harder against the 2nd seed Victoria Milovanova. She prevailed 6-7, 7-6, 6-3 in three hours and 37 minutes to book a place in her second final in as many weeks. 

The 15-year-old lost serve six times and responded with seven breaks on her tally. Xinran claimed the second set in the tie break to force a decider. She trailed 2-0 before rattling off four games and moving over the top with a hold at 5-3.

Sun chased the title against Anna Pushkareva and earned a 6-1, 2-6, 6-2 victory in an hour and 43 minutes to lift her second professional title in as many weeks. Both players earned nine break chances, and the Chinese delivered six return games while getting broken four times.

Xinran served well in the opener and grabbed two breaks for 6-1. Pushkareva responded in the second set and broke her rival three times. She moved 5-0 up and closed the set in game eight to force a decider. 

Sun grabbed a double break early on and held at love in game four for 3-1. The Chinese rattled off three games from 3-2, emerging over the top and celebrating her second title from five professional tournaments.
