20 Athletes Made Leap from Junior National Team to National Team

by

When USA Swimming announced its National Team of 121 athletes for 2025-26, a number of swimmers made the jump from the National Junior Team. Twenty members of the 2024-25 USJNT were named to the National Team roster, including World Championships squad members Luka Mijatovic and Campbell McKean. On the women’s side, World University Games medalist Leah Shackley, out of North Carolina State, was elevated.

A National Age Group record holder in multiple events, Mijatovic was named to the USNT in the 400-meter freestyle, an event in which he qualified for the World Champs in Singapore. As for McKean, in his freshman year at the University of Texas, he was named to the squad in the 50 breaststroke and 100 breaststroke. Meanwhile, Shackley earned recognition in all three backstroke events and the 100 butterfly.
