2025 TCU Football Season Recap: Nate McCashland shines on special teams

by

Special teams proved challenging at times for the TCU Horned Frogs last season. Kyle Lemmermann, then a true freshman and one of the top kicking prospects nationally prior to signing with TCU, went 15 for 22 on field-goal attempts (68.2 percent), which ranked 134th in the country. Ethan Craw, then a junior who took over for Jordy Sandy as the team’s starting punter, averaged just 42.4 yards per attempt, ranking 96th out of 192 punters.

Both Lemmermann and Craw returned as TCU’s top specialists for the 2025 season. Lemmermann had a strong 2025 debut at North Carolina, finishing 2-for-2 on field-goal attempts and 6-for-6 on extra points as the Horned Frogs crushed the Tar Heels. Unfortunately, Lemmermann suffered a leg injury prior to the Abilene Christian game and missed the remainder of the regular season, returning to make the game-tying field goal near the end of the fourth quarter in the Alamo Bowl. TCU went on to upset No. 16 USC 30-27 on a Jeremy Payne touchdown.
