As Longhorns football continues to build for the future, they got encouraging news on the recruiting front on Monday. Five-star running back David Gabriel Georges revealed his top eight schools, including the Longhorns. For programs looking to add a boost to their offense, the Tennessee native has been a popular target.
While Monday’s news was an encouraging update, the Longhorns will have to beat out a few programs. The other teams still in the mix are Alabama, Georgia, Miami, Ohio State, Tennessee, Auburn, and Ole Miss. During his high school career, the 2027 recruit has been one of the best players at his position.
Currently, the Baylor High star is ranked as the second-best running back in his class by 247Sports. They also rank Georges as the best running back in Tennessee. Over the last few years, the Longhorns’ target has surged up scouts’ rankings while adding to his trophy case.

Due to his stellar play as a Sophomore, Georges was named the Tennessee Titans Division II-AA Mr. Football. As Baylor reached the state final, he recorded 1,013 yards on 114 carries while finding the end zone 14 times in 10 games. That performance helped put Georges on the radars of scouts nationwide.
If Texas can add Georges to the mix, their 2027 class would get a boost. They have already secured commitments from three players, including four-star wide receiver Easton Royal. While that is not a bad start, they do not have as high a ceiling as Georges, who can change a game with his speed.
Over the next few months, Georges will be a player to keep an eye on. As he continues to narrow his choices, the Longhorns hope they can stay in the mix and find a way to get him to Austin.
