The Ohio State football team is gearing up for another busy spring. With the changing of the season quickly approaching, Ryan Day and the coaching staff will see their lives become much busier preparing the 2026 Buckeyes for the upcoming season.
However, preparation will not be the only task on hand for the Ohio State coaching staff, as spring also brings an uptick in college football recruiting. The Buckeyes will soon be playing host to numerous of the nation’s top prospects in the 2027 recruiting cycle and beyond.

Ohio State is already building an impressive visitor list for spring camps. One of the newest names to announce a spring visit with the Buckeyes is 2027 four-star offensive tackle Cameron Wagner (St. Joseph, IL / St. Joseph-Ogden) who will be making the trip to Columbus on March 28.
While this is not a top schools list, it does offer a great insight into Wagner’s recruitment and those schools he is most interested in. The group is impressive as he also has visits scheduled with Auburn, Notre Dame, LSU, Oregon and Wisconsin and he also plans to visit with his home-state school Illinois as well.
Wagner has also already taken unofficial visits with Florida State, Penn State and others as well, meaning Ohio State has some stiff competition for him.

However, Ohio State has long been targeting Wagner. In fact, he visited with Ohio State last spring for a recruiting camp and ironically, that visit was March 29 of last year. Almost exactly one year later, Wagner plans to return to Ohio State to continue building upon his relationship with Tyler Bowen, Ryan Day and the Ohio State coaching staff.
Ohio State knows how important building through the trenches is to having a successful football team. Because of this, he and Bowen are already off to a quick start adding depth up front in the 2027 class. Ohio State already holds three verbal commitments at the position in this cycle with three-stars Mason Wilt, Brody McNeel and Kellen Wymer.
The Buckeyes are certainly looking to add to this group and Wagner would make for an excellent addition. Other blue-chip prospects at the position that Ohio State is targeting are Maxwell Hiller, the No. 1 IOL in the 247Sports Composite and Mike Matthews, the No. 1 OT.
Wagner is the No. 19 OT in the 247Sports Composite and the No. 183 national recruit. He is also the No. 8 recruit out of Illinois.

Sticking to the above trend, Ohio State saw another blue-chip prospect announce a visit with the Buckeyes, and it also is in the offensive trenches as 2027 three-star offensive lineman Ian Walker (Pennington, NJ / The Pennington School) will reportedly be visiting with Ohio State this spring.
Ohio State is one of eight schools Walker plans to visit with this spring. The visit will not be the first for Walker, a fan of Ohio State as a child, as he last visited with the Buckeyes for their 2025-26 season opener versus Texas.
Ohio State is not only looking at the 2027 recruiting cycle as the coaching staff also has its eyes on the future. On Monday, Ohio State offered a rising cornerback in the 2028 cycle in Jai’lil Goley (Dacula, GA / Hebron Christian Academy).

Goley does not yet hold a star ranking from 247Sports, but he very likely will see that change in the next recruiting rankings update for next year’s class. Goley is building an impressive offer sheet early in his recruitment, holding offers from the likes of Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Pitt, Wake Forest and now, Ohio State.
