3-Star IOL Jax Tanner chooses BYU over Oregon Ducks

by

Just over a month after taking an official visit in Eugene with the Oregon Ducks, class of 2026 interior offensive lineman Jax Tanner has committed to the BYU Cougars instead. He was also considering the Tennessee Volunteers and Michigan Wolverines.

Tanner, a 3-star recruit per 247 Sports, is from Rocky Mountain High School in Meridian, Idaho. He was ranked 46th in the nation at his position and 515th overall.

The 6-foot-4, 275-pounder is considered one of the top IOL prospects in the West due to his aggressive style of play combined with sound technique on the interior. But he’ll be taking those talents to Provo, Utah, instead of Eugene.

For the 2026 recruiting class, Oregon has already secured the commitment of two offensive tackles (five-star Immanuel Iheanacho and four-star Tommy Tofi) along with three-star IOL Koloi Keli also set to join the Ducks.

But with Tanner committing elsewhere, head coach Dan Lanning and Co. may have to look elsewhere if they aren’t satisfied on the interior for the 2026 class.
