3-Star linebacker decommits from Oklahoma Sooners

by

The Oklahoma Sooners have created a lot of positive momentum on the recruiting trail in their 9-2 season in 2025. They’ve won three in a row in the SEC over top 25 teams and are trending for 2026 running back and top 100 player Jonathan Hatton. But with the early signing period a little over a week away, the Sooners lost a pledge.

Jakore Smith, a linebacker out of Bryant, Ark., decommitted from the Sooners on Monday, according to Hayes Fawcett of On3.

Smith had been committed to the Sooners since May. The three-star prospect told Fawcett that his reason for decommitting was related to a Name, Image, and Likeness restructure.

The Sooners still have two linebackers committed in the 2026 recruiting class in Niko and Beau Jandreau. Oklahoma could also return linebackers Kip Lewis, Kobie McKinzie, Owen Heinecke, Samuel Omosigho, James Nesta, and Marcus James.

Oklahoma is now back to 21 commitments in the 2026 recruiting class. The 2026 early signing period begins on December 3 and runs through December 5.
