Tennessee football flipped four-star defensive lineman Carter Gooden, who had been committed to UCLA.
On Dec. 3, the first day of the early signing period, Gooden announced his decision and signed with Tennessee. He told CBS Sports that his relationship with UT defensive line coach Rodney Garner was the deciding factor.

Gooden is a 6-foot-4, 260-pounder from Marion, Massachusetts. He is ranked the No. 17 edge rusher and No. 147 player overall in the 247Sports Composite.
Gooden likely will play strongside defensive end for the Vols. They beat out UCLA and Vanderbilt in last few hours to get the lauded prospect.
He adds to what is turning out to be a top-10 signing class for Tennessee.
