It’s been a long, anxious wait for Iowa women’s basketball fans since five-star McKenna Woliczko visited the Hawkeyes over Labor Day weekend.
The 6-foot-2 forward out of Archbishop Mitty in San Jose, Calif., took in an Iowa football game and looked right at home rocking the black and gold from her official visit photos.

But, understandably, Woliczko wanted to really think things over alongside her family before making a final decision. The Des Moines Register’s Chad Leistikow reported that Woliczko wants to be at one school all four years and that component has added to the importance and to the agony of getting this decision right.
On Wednesday, women’s basketball insider EJ Arocho reported that Woliczko’s college decision is expected in the next week.
Along with Iowa, Woliczko is choosing from fellow finalists South Carolina, Ohio State and USC. The talented forward averaged 22.1 points and 8.4 rebounds per game during her sophomore season at Archbishop Mitty before an ACL injury cut her junior season short.

Prior to her visit, Woliczko pointed to the Iowa culture as the item that most stood out about the Hawkeyes.
“So my top thing for Iowa is their culture. Kind of the same thing, like relationships. Iowa has been the newest to come in recruiting me out of these four, but I’ve been able to gain such great relationships with not only the coaches on staff, but the girls.
“Because I went on my visit last fall, I got to hang out with them. And it’s just great. I can talk to them. I can have a five-minute call with them one day, or I can have an hour call with the coaches the next day. So being able to talk about also personal things, but then also basketball. Where do you see me playing? So that’s just something that I really enjoy about Iowa,” Woliczko told host EJ Arocho during an Aug. 27 “On Target with EJay Arrow” podcast appearance.
