6 SEC teams featured in USA TODAY Sports Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll

by

The Oklahoma Sooners lost a tough one in their last outing in Spokane against Gonzaga. The Zags bullied the Sooners on the inside and Oklahoma struggled to shoot from the outside to stay in the game. They’re 1-1 on the season and lost their first true test but they’ll have plenty of opportunities for signature wins over the course of the season. In the latest USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll, there are six SEC teams ranked in the top 25 and five more receiving votes.

Blue-blood Kentucky leads the conference at No. 8 in the nation, followed by Alabama at No. 9 and Florida at No. 10. Tennessee comes in at No. 18 with Arkansas at No. 21 and Auburn rounding out the top 25 at No. 25.

The Sooners next take the floor on Tuesday night when they take on Arkansas-Pine Bluff before a showdown with former Big 8 and Big 12 foe Nebraska Cornhuskers on Saturday night. It’s an opportunity for the Sooners to get a solid win. Nebraska ranks No. 59 in the NET rankings, a system the NCAA Tournament selection committee uses to determine at-large bids.

Here’s a look at the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll after the first full weekend of college basketball action.
