“We hear all the media how they talk about how I think we took a step down because of who we lost last year,” Miller said. “And we did lose some big pieces of course, but I feel like our recruiting staff did a tremendous job bringing in talented guys in those areas. Of course we can’t refill those people, but we can fulfill production. And that’s what our coaches preach.”
Miller, who has earned a reputation as a high-energy leader in the receivers’ room, said his mindset is to keep things simple. “I just tell our receivers every time, take it day by day, play by play. Don’t rush into anything. Just live in the moment. The big play is going to come. Be ready for your moment.”
As Colorado prepares for their opener against Georgia Tech on Friday, Miller embraces the chip on his shoulder. “Most definitely. We hear it all the time,” he said. “But as long as we refill that production, we’ll be okay.”

Dre’lon also stressed that his versatility has been a point of emphasis. “This offseason I wanted to emphasize my speed of course and just get my body right to where I can take them hits at running back, go outside, inside receiver, and just be that dude where I can play however many snaps on offense and don’t come out the game.”
Always upbeat, Miller smiled when asked about his demeanor. “Keeping the Lord first…that’s a big thing in my testimony,” he said. “I’ve been through a lot in my life. My mom motivates me to just keep going, keep a smile on my face. And I’m playing football. I mean, I wouldn’t be [anywhere] else in the world. Today (Tuesday) is my birthday, so I’m just happy to be playing football, game planning for Georgia Tech.”
