As the Texas Longhorns prepare for the 2025-2026 college women’s basketball season, expectations are high in Austin. The Lady Longhorns are coming off one of their best seasons in recent memory, with many veteran faces returning. Due to their success, they will get to make history in December.
The Longhorns have been selected to participate in the inaugural Sprouts Farmers Market espnW Invitational. In the invitational, Texas will take on Baylor at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth. This matchup between two powerhouses is set to start at noon on December 14th.

While the Longhorns look forward to participating in a marquee matchup, their non-conference slate now features five teams ranked in the top 25 at the end of the 2024-25 season. Their schedule includes matchups with UCLA, Duke, South Carolina, North Carolina, and South Dakota. Those games will be a good opportunity for Texas to prove that its success last season was no fluke.
This team has had no issues when given the opportunity to shine on a big stage. Over the summer, they played in the Globl Jam Tournament. In that showcase, they earned silver medals while participating against international teams.
As the Longhorns chase a national title, they will get to show just how far the program has come four months from now.
