Emma Raducanu given ultimate performance rating by ex-Wimbledon champion

by

Marion Bartoli was full of praise for Emma Raducanu’s most recently performance at the US Open, rating it “a 10 out of 10” performance.

On Sunday, Raducanu arguably delivered one of her best performances ever, dominating Ena Shibahara 6-1 6-2 for her first US Open win since 2021. Three days later, the 35th-ranked Briton showed that her opening display wasn’t a fluke since she also annihilated Janice Tjen 6-2 6-1 – the rising Indonesian star who has won 13 Futures titles across the last two seasons.

It was a pretty flawless performance from Raducanu, who fired eight aces, zero double faults, and didn’t lose her serve once, Also, the Briton broke her rival four times and registered 16 winners.

Bartoli: Raducanu was incredible right from the opening game

“It's very difficult not to give her a 10 out of 10 for this performance. She was just incredible, from the very first game. She did not give her opponent anything to work with,” 2013 Wimbledon champion Bartoli said of the Briton’s current form on Sky Sports.

"She was just sublime on her serve, and to be able to take someone like Tjen out of the court in one hour, to reach the third round of the US Open, that's why we're getting so excited. We know the potential and what Raducanu is capable of. It's hard not to get excited with the level she is bringing."

Raducanu will hope to deliver similar display on Friday when she meets Elena Rybakina, in a match that is scheduled to highlight the third-round action at Flushing Meadows. In the past, they met once and Rybakina easily handled the Briton 6-0 6-1 in the 2022 Sydney first round.

While Raducanu was a Grand Slam champion when they met in Sydney, she is undoubtedly now a much better player. It remains to be seen if the 22-year-old can clinch another big win and make the US Open second week for the first time since 2021.
