SmackDown has a new champion.
The August 29 episode of WWE SmackDown took place at the LDLC Arena in Lyon-Décines, France. The night closed out with the United States Title on the line.
Solo Sikoa has been a very hated United States Champion, and he stepped into France with a big challenge ahead of him. Sami Zayn has not held that title, but he promised to fix that as he cut a promo for fans in French.
This match was in the main event slot. The MFTs were a huge hindrance in this match, but then Jacob Fatu came down to even things out. This gave Sami Zayn a chance to nail a Blue Thunder Bomb on Solo Sikoa to get things going in his direction.
The match continued with a lot of near falls. In the end, Sami Zayn was able to nail a Helluva Kick and win the match. WWE SmackDown closed out this week in France with Sami Zayn celebrating in a big way.
We will have to see what is next for everyone involved. They certainly left it all on the table in France for SmackDown, and it’s anyone’s guess what WWE will do to follow up on this.
What’s your take on how they booked the United States Title match in France for SmackDown? Do you think they should have had things go another way? Let us know what you think in the comments section!
