It wasn’t hard to see the Oregon Ducks flying around the field in Saturday’s 59-13 victory over the Montana State Bobcats. The main focus for the Ducks‘ defense, per head coach Dan Lanning in his postgame press conference, was stopping the run.
They did exactly that, holding the Bobcats to just 46 rushing yards on 27 carries — a paltry 1.7 yards per carry for an offense that ran for nearly 5,000 yards a season ago.

While Oregon accomplished its goal of bottling up the run game, there was one player who they couldn’t seem to get a handle of: wide receiver Taco Dowler.
The slight 5-foot-9, 170-pound junior caught 12 passes for 107 yards, including several instances where he caught the ball near the line of scrimmage and showcased immense speed running after the catch.
The FCS Preseason All-American receiver couldn’t do it all himself, however, and came away impressed with the Ducks.
“Fastest team I’ve ever played,” he said. “It is different. There are levels to this. We came to compete, but they are ridiculously athletic.”

It’s a fact that the Ducks have one of the most talented rosters in the country with an emphasis on flying to the football — something that stood out for not only viewers but Oregon’s opponent on Saturday.
