Following one of Iowa women’s basketball’s most impactful official visits, class of 2026 five-star recruit McKenna Woliczko emphatically showcased her experience in Iowa City alongside both her parents over Labor Day weekend.
The 6-foot-2 wing from Archbishop Mitty High School in San Jose, California, is ranked as the No. 6 player nationally by ESPN, Rivals, and 247Sports. While both 247Sports ranks Woliczko as the No. 2 power forward, Rivals views Woliczko as the nation’s top shooting guard in their rankings.

Despite suffering a season-ending ACL injury in her junior season with Archbishop Mitty, Woliczko has remained a dominant force throughout her prep career, averaging 20.2 points and 10.3 rebounds per game during her freshman season and 22.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks per game during her sophomore campaign.
Given that Woliczko described during her August 27 interview with EJ Arocho that the overall culture and bonding with teammates and coaches as a strength of the Iowa women’s basketball program that she strongly values, the Hawkeyes made it a priority to showcase the thorough levels of support both within the team but also throughout the entire Iowa athletic community.

In the comments of Woliczko’s Instagram post, a number of current and former Hawkeyes chimed in, from Lucy Olsen saying “This looks gooooood,” to fellow California native and Iowa freshman guard Addie Deal commenting “Love This”.
While the pitch to the talented recruit is important in its own right, appealing to both her parents is another important fact as Iowa wants them to feel confident that their daughter can thrive socially, emotionally, and physically, improve her basketball skills, and have comfort in the resources available in Iowa City.
As Iowa serves as the last of Woliczko’s four official visits, which included stops at South Carolina, Ohio State, and USC, the Hawkeyes hope their presentation, coupled with the overall passion throughout the Iowa athletics community, acts as a difference-maker in attracting the treasured recruit to Iowa City.

If Iowa is able to secure a pledge from Woliczko, it could be a key piece towards making the 2026-27 Hawkeyes squad a team primed for a championship run, alongside the exceptional talent currently on the roster. Additionally, it would serve as another monumental recruiting win as Jan Jensen continues to transform the program from an impressive regional powerhouse to a national juggernaut.
With Woliczko’s senior year already underway at Archbishop Mitty High School, her commitment decision is expected to come at some point in September, with Hawkeye fans eagerly awaiting her announcement.
