World Archery to elect federation’s 10th president in Gwangju

Elections

The most-talked-about subject at the 56th World Archery Congress is the election of the new president.

There are two candidates, World Archery’s current secretary general Tom Dielen and former executive board member Greg Easton, whose father James Easton previously served as the eighth president from 1989 to 2005.

There are 30 positions across the governance structure being selected at Congress, with 64 approved candidates from 33 countries standing for election.

Other key positions include vice president (three candidates for two spots – Thomas Han, Mark Miller and Carina Olsson) and executive board member (11 nominees for three spots).

Due to the staggered elections and term limits required by World Archery’s constitution, there are elections for open positions in all eight permanent committees.

If Motion 2 is approved on the opening day of Congress and the ad-hoc gender equity and inclusion committee becomes permanent, there will also be elections for four positions (four nominees) on this body.
