It’s quarterfinal time in NYC! Here’s what we’ll be watching on Tuesday as a star-studded group takes the court ready to battle for coveted semifinal spots.

11:30 AM – Women’s Singles QF
Jessica Pegula [4] vs Barbora Krejcikova
Jessica Pegula, last year’s women’s singles runner-up and one of two American women left standing in NY, has yet to drop a set in New York, giving up just 17 games through four rounds. 62nd-ranked Krejcikova saved eight match points in her Round of 16 thriller over Taylor Townsend and is chasing her first Top 10 win since beating Coco Gauff at the 2024 WTA Finals. The Czech, a two-time major champion, owns a 9-3 record against Americans at Grand Slams. Pegula’s consistency will be tested as she seeks her 16th straight victory against opponents outside the Top 50 at Flushing Meadows.

Jiri Lehecka [20] vs Carlos Alcaraz [2]
Lehecka is into his second career major quarterfinal and draws confidence from a win over Alcaraz earlier this year in Doha. Alcaraz, unbeaten in sets through four rounds in New York, owns a 21-3 career record at the Open. The Spaniard leads their head-to-head 2-1, but the Czech’s fearless style and returning ability could push Alcaraz.
That said, Alcaraz has looked like a man on a mission in New York. He’s been serving lights out, winning 54 of his 55 service games through four rounds.
7:00 PM – Women’s Singles QF
Aryna Sabalenka [1] vs Marketa Vondrousova
Top-ranked Sabalenka is aiming to become the first woman since Serena Williams (2012-2014) to win consecutive US Open titles. She’s also reached the quarterfinals at both the Australian and US Opens for three straight years. Vondrousova, a former Wimbledon champion ranked 60, has four wins in nine meetings against Sabalenka and will need to elevate her game after a 7-5, 6-1 loss in Cincinnati last month.
The left-handed Czech has been brilliant in taking out Top-10 players Jasmine Paolini and Elena Rybakina in back-to-back matches.

Novak Djokovic [7] vs Taylor Fritz [4]
Novak Djokovic owns a 10-0 lifetime edge against Taylor Fritz, last year’s US Open runner-up. But the American isn’t fazed, confident that his growth as a player can help him navigate the challenge of facing the 24-time major champion again. “I wouldn’t say that the aura of Novak being Novak has worn off at all,” Fritz said. “No matter what, he’s around, you’re going to acknowledge the fact that it’s Novak and he holds pretty much all the records in tennis. That’s never going to change. I don’t look at it like he’s more vulnerable than before. I look at it as the same, but I also look at it that I’ve improved a lot as a player.”
Djokovic knows what he’ll be up against, and knows how to get the job done. He’ll just have to get his body to cooperate if the match gets physical.
