Texas A&M’s Week 2 matchup against Utah State presents another opportunity for the Aggies to address the defensive issues they displayed against UTSA, despite winning 42-24 to open the 2025 season. Allowing over 200 rushing yards, including 177 from running back Robert Henry, expect marginal improvement against the visiting Aggies this weekend.
Throughout the week, Coach Mike Elko has maintained a positive tone, praising the Aggies’ passing game under OC Collin Klein, which resulted in starting quarterback Marcel Reed throwing for a career-high 289 yards and four touchdowns, with 194 yards and three touchdowns going to new wide receivers KC Concepcion and Mario Craver.

Paired with Concepcion’s 80-yard punt return score, this duo could be the reason Texas A&M wins nine or ten games this season, if, and only if, Marcel Reed continues to stay poised in the pocket, while the running game, which produced just 108 yards against UTSA, finds its footing.
Now, for the most critical information: Texas A&M announced its uniform combination before hosting Utah State, as the Aggies will wear white helmets, maroon jerseys, and white pants for the early afternoon kickoff.
For the Texas A&M fan base to feel good about this team before facing Notre Dame on the road in Week 3, the defense needs to shut down Utah State’s running game early to force the pass, which, after the secondary’s performance against the Roadrunners, shouldn’t result in significant gains through the air.

On offense, Marcel Reed’s passing production needs to continue, not just to put points on the board, but also to provide the redshirt sophomore more confidence going forward. Lastly, the run game needs to find its legs after rushing for just 108 yards, which starts and ends with senior back Le’Veon Moss.
