Iowa (1-1) suffered its first loss of the season on Saturday, dropping a 16-13 nail-biter against one of their rivals in the Iowa State Cyclones (3-0, 1-0 Big 12).
Iowa had an opportunity to impress the pollsters and jump into the top 25 rankings with a win over the Cyclones, but more issues in the passing game doomed the Hawkeyes.

The loss snapped a six-game winning streak in Ames for the Hawkeyes. As Iowa works to put the pieces back together, its rival is inching toward top 10 status in both polls. Like the newest US LBM Coaches Poll, Iowa State is ranked No. 14 in the latest AP Top 25 College Football Poll.
Despite Iowa’s loss, Sunday’s newest AP Top 25 poll demonstrates the collective strength of the Big Ten.
Ohio State and Penn State are ranked No. 1 and No. 2 again and Oregon climbed a pair of spots to No. 4 nationally. Illinois jumped two spots to move inside the top 10 as the nation’s ninth-ranked team.
Indiana is ranked No. 22 and Michigan checks in as the country’s No. 23 squad. USC and Nebraska are each receiving votes in the AP Top 25.
