LOS ANGELES — First baseman Warming Bernabel was removed early from Monday night’s game at Dodger Stadium after colliding with part of a gate structure along the right-field line.
Bernabel converged near right fielder Tyler Freeman as both were trying to catch a first-inning foul ball off the bat of Mookie Betts. As the ball started to land, Bernabel leaned into the protective netting but it appeared his head impacted a less forgiving portion of it.
Bernabel held the side of his head before trainers gave him a concussion test on the field. He was able to walk to the clubhouse without assistance.
The rookie was replaced by Kyle Farmer. The Rockies did not provide an immediate update on the injury.
