Josh Giddey is staying in Chicago long term. The 22-year-old guard has agreed to a four-year, $100 million fully guaranteed contract with the Bulls.
The contract contains no player or team options, locking Giddey in as the franchise’s cornerstone at point guard.
The Bulls originally landed him in a 2024 trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder that sent Alex Caruso the other way.
Giddey rewarded the team with the best season of his career.
He averaged 14.6 points while posting career-highs in rebounds at 8.1, assists at 7.2, steals at 1.2, and three-point shooting at 37.8 percent. He also recorded seven triple-doubles, the second most in a single season in Bulls history behind Michael Jordan’s 15 during 1988-89.
His play elevated even further after the All-Star break following the trade of Zach LaVine. Giddey averaged 21.2 points, 10.7 rebounds and 9.3 assists on 50 percent shooting, including 46 percent from beyond the arc.
On March 22 against the Lakers, Giddey made history by becoming the first player with 15 points, 15 assists, 10 rebounds and eight steals in an NBA game since steals became an official stat in 1973-74.
Despite finishing the season with a muscle tear in the palm of his shooting hand, Giddey led Chicago to a 15-5 run that secured a play-in spot.
Over that closing stretch, he averaged 20.6 points, 10.7 rebounds and 9.7 assists across 13 games.
Selected sixth overall in the 2021 NBA Draft, Giddey remains the youngest player ever to record a triple-double – 17 points, 14 assists and 13 rebounds at 19 years and 84 days old against Dallas on Jan. 2, 2022.
With this extension, the Bulls have their leader in place, and Giddey has his long-term home in Chicago.
