Drama erupts at India vs UAE toss in Asia Cup
At the toss, the cricketer-turned-commentator Sanjay Manjrekar introduced India skipper Suryakumar Yadav, UAE captain Muhammad Waseem, the ICC match referee Andy Pycroft, and the toss representative before asking the India star to spin the coin.
Your daily dose of cricket!
Suryakumar Yadav looked in a jovial mood, and he shared a nice, friendly moment with Muhammad Waseem. He was seen telling the UAE skipper, “Idhar mat dekho (don’t look here),” before breaking into laughter.
As Suryakumar flipped the coin, Waseem called for heads, and it came down as tails. India won the toss and opted to bowl first, and it was their first toss victory in 16 attempts in international cricket.
Suryakumar Yadav didn’t tell Andy Pycroft about his toss decision and just went on to chat with Sanjay Manjrekar. He explained the dew factor as the reason behind India’s decision to bowl first, which prompted Sanjay Manjrekar to state, “I thought you’d want to bat first.”
Then, the Indian captain began explaining the first game of the season as the reason behind their move, and suddenly, Andy Pycroft interrupted.
He was seen asking what the toss decision of India was, and Suryakumar told him they were bowling first. Sanjay Manjrekar then intervented and clarified the situation to the match referee before continuing his chat with the Indian skipper.

We are confident from that series – Muhammad Waseem
Speaking at the toss, Muhammad Waseem said that they would take positives from the Tri-series against Afghanistan and Pakistan and would look to do well in the Asia Cup 2025. He said:
“We were also looking to bowl because the pitch is looking fresh so maybe the ball will do something in the beginning. We had a good tournament and got many positive points. We are confident from that series. Today we have other plans and need to play good cricket.
“We are going with a good combination with both spinner and fast bowlers, a mix of seniors and youngsters.”
Talking about the match result, the India National Cricket Team showcased unbelievable dominance with the ball and bowled out the UAE National Cricket Team for 57 runs in 13.1 overs.
It was the lowest score by any T20I team against India in T20I cricket. Also, while chasing the target, Abhishek Sharma played explosive cricket, and after his dismissal, Shubman Gill and Suryakumar Yadav joined forces to finish off the game in 4.3 overs. India won the match by 9 wickets to start their campaign on a high.
