The biggest WrestleMania of all time is about to be made officialโand itโs happening this Friday.
WWE and Saudi Arabia have finalized the deal for WrestleMania 43 to take place in 2027 as part of the Kingdomโs massive 300th anniversary celebration, and the official announcement is set to go down in Las Vegas.
The timing lines up perfectly, as top TKO executives are already in Vegas for the Canelo vs. Crawford super fight and WWEโs Worlds Collide weekend. With all the major players under one roof, WWE is expected to make the blockbuster reveal on Friday, putting to rest all the rumors about where WrestleMania is heading next.
While an early post this week mistakenly jumped the gun, the information was realโand now itโs just a matter of WWE making it official. Behind the scenes, this event isnโt just another premium show on the calendarโitโs shaping up to be the most over-the-top spectacle in WWE history. Dave Meltzer reported that Saudi officials are throwing down mind-blowing sums of money to make WrestleMania 43 the most star-studded card ever assembled.
โTheyโre putting up an incredible amount of money, a ridiculous amount of money. And the idea is to present the most star-studded show everโby far. Anyone. Moneyโs no object. Any name you can imagineโobviously theyโre going to be after.โ
And this isnโt just about hosting rights. Saudi Arabia wants creative control too. According to Meltzer, theyโre working overtime to get specific matches madeโeven if that means waiting years to pull it off.
โThey have matches that they want, and theyโre working really, really hard to get. Even though itโs a couple of years, I donโt know if theyโre gonna be able to get them, but theyโre gonna spend a lot of money to get what they want, obviously.โ
That includes legends. Retired icons like The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Undertaker, and Shawn Michaels are all expected to be approached, even if itโs just to show up for a big-money payday.
โNeither Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels nor Rock vs. Austin are matches Iโve heard specifically. But I would presume all of those people will be contacted. And if they want to do itโeven if itโs just for the paydayโtheyโll be able to do it.โ
The entire show is being engineered as a global spectacle, with Saudi General Entertainment Authority chairman Turki Al-Alshikh leading the charge. Meltzer described him as โthe final boss,โ a man with the power and budget to bypass even top WWE and Endeavor executives when it comes to delivering what he wants.
WrestleMania 43 wonโt just be the first Mania outside North Americaโit could be the most expensive, extravagant, and insane event WWE has ever produced.
Do you think WrestleMania in Saudi Arabia is the right move? Would you want to see retired legends return for one last epic showdown? Drop your thoughts in the comments below.
