LAWRENCE — Kansas Athletics has revealed details for its upcoming Late Night in the Phog event, which will be held Oct. 17 at 6:30 p.m. (CT) inside Allen Fieldhouse.
Gates will open at 5 p.m. for fans, with activities on the concourse — including a kid zone and display of basketball equipment. The women’s basketball team’s scrimmage will be held first, and be followed by a “halftime” set of entertainment, including “videos, dances with the Rock Chalk spirit squad, KU band and spirit, and the always fan favorite halfcourt shot in which two individuals will have the opportunity to win $10,000 from men’s basketball coach Bill Self by making a half-court shot.” And then Self’s squad will take the court for its scrimmage.

This year, there will not be a featured musical artist. Instead, there will be a “KU student-only dance party on the Allen Fieldhouse court featuring dueling DJs,” during a Late Night After Party. And the entire event remains free for fans, with tickets claimed online in advance and all seating that is outside of the student section being reserved.

“Williams Education Fund members will have preferred access to a limited number of reserved seats based on priority within the Williams Education Fund,” the KU release detailed. “All other inventory and unclaimed Williams Education Fund inventory will be made available to the public. Students will also have to claim a ticket online. Sports Combo holders will have access first for three days, and then general students will have a chance to claim tickets, based on availability.”
Self’s team is coming off of a 21-13 season that saw it reach the quarterfinals of the Big 12 Conference tournament and the round of 64 of the NCAA tournament. It has a remade roster, led by freshman guard Darryn Peterson. After a pair of exhibition games later on in October, its season begins Nov. 3 at home against Green Bay.
