Following a week off after its season-opening loss at Miami, No. 8 Notre Dame begins its home slate with another big primetime matchup against No. 16 Texas A&M.
Quarterback CJ Carr wasn’t overwhelmed by the moment against the Hurricanes, but the Irish offensive line struggled in the loss. Carr was 19-of-30 through the air with 221 passing yards and two touchdowns against one interception in his first college start. But he will need the offensive line to produce bigger holes for the rushing attack, and he’ll need better blocking up front to find receivers down the field.

Defensively, the Fighting Irish pass rush wasn’t very disruptive. Granted, the Canes have a very good offensive line, but so do the Aggies. The concern is if the Irish are not able to generate pressure up front, how will the secondary hold up against an A&M offense that has upgraded at receiver.
This Aggies offense has a chance to improve on its numbers from last year’s contest, won by ND in College Station. Quarterback Marcel Reed averages 5.8 yards per carry and has also thrown for 509 yards and seven scores in the first two games. He left last week’s win over Utah State with an undisclosed injury, but he is expected to start this one.
But after not receiving a ton of work against Miami, Jeremiyah Love and Jadarian Price may be leaned on in what should be a very close contest. It’s early, but Notre Dame’s College Football Playoff hopes hang in the balance.

Mike Elko’s Aggies want revenge after last year’s setback. This is a different A&M outfit, but the Irish will be up to the task and score a big win to avoid dropping to 0-2.
