The Seminoles also boast their highest ranking this season in USA Today US LBM Coaches Poll as they prepare for their third consecutive home game following wins over Alabama and East Texas A&M.

Thanks to losses by teams ahead of it, idle FSU climbed three spots from No. 12 to No. 9 in the Coaches poll released Sunday, Sept. 14.

The Seminoles are now the second-highest-ranked ACC team, behind only the No. 6 Miami Hurricanes (3-0). The Sunshine State rivals next month in Tallahassee.

FSU also moved up to No. 7 in the AP Top 25.

The Seminoles are heavily-favored (43.5 points) over Kent State. The Golden Flashes have not won a road game since 2022 and have lost 24 consecutive games against FBS opponents.

FSU football soaring into Family, Hall of Fame weekend, headlined by Jameis Winston

Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston will be the headliner on Sunday for the first day of the ACC Kickoff in Greensboro, North Carolina.

It expects to be a busy weekend in Tallahassee as FSU returns to the field after its bye week.

The Seminoles’ Family Weekend dates back to 1958.

The Seminoles also will induct seven members into the university’s Athletics Hall of Fame, headlined by quarterback Jameis Winston and receiver Rashad Greene. The pair helped FSU capture the program’s third national championship in 2013, with Winston winning the Heisman Trophy.

The Seminoles are riding plenty of momentum into their third game of the season.
