HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – Mike Perry is confident he will break Jeremy Stephens at BKFC 82.
Perry defends his “King of Violence” title against Stephens Oct. 4 at Prudential Center in New Jersey. The pair nearly came to blows when they faced off during Friday’s BKFC 80 event at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.
“Platinum” has finished his past three opponents in the bare-knuckle ring, but is ready to outlast Stephens if necessary.
“All day, I hold my breath during the rounds,” Perry told MMA Junkie and other reporters. “I’ll just (holds breath) and throw some sh*t, and just hold my breath and have fun in there. I hit sprints in the ring, and I can do that for five or six rounds. I’m always training the six, two-minute rounds just in case we get a good, little scrap going. I didn’t feel anything from him tonight. I feel like maybe that could be him obviously being a 40-time professional athlete.
“I felt like he looked confused at times, like he was wondering where it might go, and I was kind of waiting for something. … I was waiting for him to hit me, and we touched foreheads, but then I got pissed and pushed him with my forehead. I was waiting for the return, I was waiting for him to hit me with something, but maybe it’s just the professionalism of an experienced guy. I look forward to seeing the violence on the 4th, but if I’m going to make a pick, I think I’m going to make him quit.”
Stephens is also known for his power, boasting an array of brutal knockouts during his UFC tenure, as well as finishing two of his three BKFC opponents. But no matter what Stephens brings to the table, Perry remains unconcerned.
“I guess I got to watch out for the left and right, but I’m super confident in my skills, my training, my movement, my speed, my athleticism, my ability to be my best self,” Perry said. “I look at comments and things people say about me, but they can never understand me because I’m me, and I barely understand me. I’m still learning about myself, and I’m still enjoying that, and honestly there’s nothing I need to look out for. He can have the best night of his life, and it’s not going to be enough to beat me. I’m going to beat his ass, period.”
Perry, who broke Luke Rockhold’s teeth in their BKFC 41 fight, sent a stern final message to Stephens.
“Get your will ready,” Perry told Stephens. “Write a list you want your fam to do for you after you can’t f*cking move or talk no more. You’re going to be crippled. Thanks Jeremy for taking the fight. It’s nice to have an opponent, but I’m going to smash your face in.”
