Depending on how hard-core of college football fan you are, the odds are good before Tuesday that you either did not know who Ryan Silverfield was or barely knew more about him than the fact that he is the head football coach at the University of Memphis.
Full disclosure. I don’t even know for sure what conference the Tigers are in if my life depended on it. For the record, they compete in the American Conference and depending on how things go, could contend for a Group of 5 spot in this year’s College Football Playoff and be this year’s Boise State.

By all accounts, Georgia fans should not be concerned with the Memphis Tigers…until this week when Silverfield decided to…choose violence while being a straight-up liar.
Now, was this an overexaggeration? Yes. But it’s also dishonest and untruthful. Does Georgia have issues among its players and staff members when they get behind the wheel? Yes, and if you have not forgotten, just check out the peanut gallery of opposing fans.
Silverfield’s comments did do one thing, it got his name in the headlines as he could be in the coach cycle with Virginia Tech already having pink-slipped a head coach, and odds being good that at least one SEC school will be likewise before 2026. That self-promotion, however, should not come at the expense of wrongly disparaging other schools, even if they choose to take the high road.

Speaking of disarray, the University of Florida has had better stretches of a season. Not that anyone here is complaining. Regardless, it’s more blood in the water for a program that could be glancing toward CoachingHotSeats.com
It’s good to be Gunner Stockton these days. Fresh off of a ‘show me’ game at Tennessee, Rabun County High will retire his jersey on Friday.
Georgia was able to make it work on Saturday with a banged up offensive line. But ideally, it’d like to have a full-strength unit against Alabama with Juan Gaston and Earnest Greene at 100 percent. That’s why the timing of this off week could not be better.
