Mandhana looked dominant in the middle from the very start and played an attacking brand of cricket. She hit her half-century off 45 balls before accelerating further and reaching the three-figure mark in just 77 balls.

Smriti Mandhana was eventually dismissed for 117 runs off 91 balls, with 14 fours and 4 sixes. Also, Pratika Rawal, Richa Ghosh, Sneh Rana, and Deepti Sharma made decent contributions to power India to 292.

India hammer Australia by 102 runs

Team India registered a stunning 102-run win over Australia Women, and it was their first win in a home ODI over Australia since the victory at Chepauk in February 2007.

Before today, India’s only previous victory against Australia in 14 head-to-head ODIs post the 2017 WC semi-final had come by 2 wickets in Mackay in 2021.

Meanwhile, India became the first team in cricket history to beat Australia by 100 or more runs and ended their streak of 13 straight ODI wins.

The last two hundreds which I got against Australia were in the losing cause – Smriti Mandhana

Smriti Mandhana won the Player of the Match award for her heroics and said that she was delighted to hit a hundred in the winning cause. She elaborated:

“The last two hundreds which I got against Australia were in the losing cause, happy that we won the match today. The game-plan was simple. In the powerplay, you have to make use of the two fielders out, try and play your shots and the build the innings.”

“Whatever is in my slot, I’ll go for it. It all depends on the conditions and who we play. You know the Australian team and you need to get 280-290 so that our bowlers get those 20-30 runs extra cushion. It all depends on the surface. The wicket is really flat and i had to be aggressive. Throughout the World Cup as well, I wouldn’t have one game completely where I wouldn’t be aggressive but depending on the conditions, we change.”
