Ibo Aslan vs. Junior Tafa canceled due to injury

by

UFC Fight Night 260 has lost its co-main event.

The light heavyweight bout between Ibo Aslan (14-3 MMA, 2-2 UFC) and Junior Tafa (6-4 MMA, 2-4 UFC) has been scratched from the Sept. 27 event at RAC Arena in Perth, per UFC officials. Aslan took to social media to reveal that it was Tafa who withdrew due to injury.

“My opponent pulled out of the fight because of an injury,” Aslan said. “The fight will not happen. Get well soon, boy. We have to rebook this fight. There is no space for you.”

Both Aslan and Tafa were looking to rebound. After six-straight finishes, two of them in the UFC, Aslan has lost back-to-back bouts against Ion Cutelaba, and most recently Billy Elekana at UFC on ABC 9 in July. Meanwhile, Tafa has lost three of his past four, with his lone win in that stretch coming in a second-round TKO of Sean Sharaf last October.

With the cancellation, the UFC Fight Night 260 lineup now includes:

  • Dominick Reyes vs. Carlos Ulberg
  • Jimmy Crute vs. Ivan Erslan
  • Jack Jenkins vs. Ramon Taveras
  • Neil Magny vs. Jake Matthews
