Last week, men’s college basketball fans were surprised with the news thatthe Wofford Terriers had fired its head coach shortly before the season.
Wofford parted ways with Dwight Perry and associate head coach Tysor Anderson as well suddenly even though they led the team to a berth in March Madness last season. Wofford improved its win-loss record during each season that it played under Perry.

Jeff Goodman reported that six players on the roster were ruled ineligible to start the season due to a “communications issue” about housing. He added that it was because players used a campus meal plan for “improper benefits” between $84 and $108 while living off-campus.
An NIL agent who works with several players on the team told Goodman what this means for Wofford (via on3):
“Mark Peper, who represents a total of seven players on the roster – including four ruled ineligible on Wednesday by the NCAA, told The Field of 68 that all of the players fully support their request to have both Perry and Anderson reinstated.
Under the NCAA rules, the players have a 30-day window following a coaching change to enter the transfer portal. Peper said that the players could elect to enter the portal if Perry and Anderson aren’t given their jobs back – which could put the program in danger of not being able to field a team this season.”
Because of the new transfer window that is created when a team parts ways with its head coach, Wofford could lose several players dangerously close to the season.
Considering that Pepper is lobbying for Perry and Anderson to get reinstated, the athletic department will soon have a massive decision to make.
