Ludwig Kaiser Explains Why He Quit Watching WWE Unreal After Just One Episode

by

Ludwig Kaiser has opened up about WWE’s push into behind-the-scenes storytelling, admitting that while fans love the transparency, it doesn’t sit right with him personally.

Speaking on the Kennt jeder podcast, Kaiser said he comes from an old-school mindset where kayfabe was still sacred, and peeling back the curtain too much kills part of the magic.

“Our generation and the ones before grew up with kayfabe — the myth that everything is real. It’s deeply ingrained in us. Sure, the fans know now, but when you pull back the curtain too much, you lose some of the magic.”

He admitted that he tried watching WWE’s new Netflix series Unreal but couldn’t bring himself to continue.

“I actually saw an episode of Unreal and didn’t watch any further. I didn’t want to see Triple H sitting there with the producers, deciding this and that. I didn’t want to know. I didn’t want to spoil it for myself.”

Kaiser even compared it to spoiling a magician’s act, joking about how knowing the trick beforehand takes away the fun.

“I’m so old. The only magician I know is David Copperfield. But imagine you go to one of his shows and he tells you beforehand how he’s going to disappear. Then I don’t need to go anymore. That’s not fun.”

While Kaiser respects fans who enjoy the behind-the-scenes look, he made it clear that he personally prefers to keep the illusion alive.

“Everyone can decide for themselves. It’s a huge success, a massive production, and it’s great for the business. But for me personally? I want to keep that enjoyment. I’m old school like that.”

Kaiser’s stance shows that even in today’s era of full transparency, there are still stars who value the mystique of wrestling the way it used to be.
