Pakistan batter Mohammad Nawaz was dismissed due to his callousness on the field as Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav reminded him of game awareness with a stunning and unexpected run-out in the 19th over of the game.
India dominated Pakistan one-sidedly in the first match of the Asia Cup 2025 between these two teams; however, this time around, Pakistan has also played some memorable brand of cricket.
Pakistan had planned that it would mock India with a strategy if it went on to avenge its loss in the group-stage game. However, India too has kept their nerves still despite some early misses in the field.

Watch: Mohammad Nawaz falls prey to the most cunning display of game awareness from Suryakumar Yadav
Pakistan batter Mohammad Nawaz was sent in early ahead of the Pakistani skipper to score some quick runs for the Pakistan team. However, despite scoring runs initially, he was dismissed just when he started accelerating for Pakistan.
Having smashed runs off Shivam Dube’s final over, he was out in the 19th over of the game, but not to the bowler Jasprit Bumrah. He was run out, when Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav quickly threw the ball at the stumps, having found the batter short of the crease.
Nawaz was strolling out of the crease, totally ignorant of the Indian skipper throwing the ball at the stumps. The direct hit found Nawaz’s bat above the ground at the time when the ball hit the stumps. BCCI also trolled the Pakistani after the dismissal.
Surya Kumar Yadav reminds Mohammad Nawaz 👉 Garden mein ghumna mana hai! 🤭

India chase the 170+ target after Abhishek Sharma toys with Pakistani bowlers
When the Indians came in to chase the target of 172, the openers did the initial carnage within the powerplay. Within 10 overs, India surpassed the 100-run mark. Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill both were flawless as they dominated the Pakistan bowlers.
Gill played some remarkable shots along the ground, while Abhishek Sharma often adopted taking the aerial route. He scored 74 runs in his quickfire innings and made the chase look easy for the next set of middle-order batters.
Suryakumar Yadav could not contribute to the batting tally; however, Tilak Varma’s cameo helped take India over the line well within the 19th over of the game.
Tilak Varma led India to a comfortable victory
Sanju Samson, sent in at no. 5, failed to be promising for India, as he scored a slow-paced 13 runs before throwing away his wicket in front of Haris Rauf. After Samson was dismissed, it was now up to Tilak Varma and Hardik Pandya to wind up the chase for the Men in Blue.
Pandya contributed with a run-a-ball 7*, while Tilak Varma took charge of the chase. The left-hander finished on 30* off just 19 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes. India finished the chase with 7 balls remaining and 6 wickets in hand.
Overall, the likes of Shivam Dube, Kuldeep Yadav, Abhishek Sharma, and Shubman Gill contributed to India’s second win against Pakistan in the Asia Cup.
