Mateusz Gamrot reacts to Charles Oliveira fight at UFC Rio

by

No. 8-ranked Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Lightweight Mateusz Gamrot just landed the biggest opportunity of his career. Earlier today, the Polish contender found out he will headline UFC Rio in just three weeks (Sat., Oct. 11, 2025) against former Lightweight kingpin Charles Oliveira inside Farmasi Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The announcement came as a shock to many, but no one was more surprised than Gamrot himself. One of his coaches, Lukasz Zaborowski, captured the exact moment his fighter got the news that he would be headlining his fourth UFC card.

Gamrot’s reaction was pure amazement mixed with disbelief. He let out a long “whoaaaaaa!” before saying something in Polish and hopping out of the car, pacing around the parking lot like a man trying to process the golden ticket he had just been handed.

In the end, none of that mattered — Gamrot got the call, and the matchup is set.

The Polish contender has quietly built a strong resume at 155 pounds, going 4-1 in his last five fights. He most recently scored a unanimous decision win over Ludovit Klein at UFC Vegas 107 and is a perfect 3-0 in UFC main events. Now, Gamrot gets the chance to shock the world in enemy territory when he takes on one of Brazil’s most beloved former champions.
