After losing the US Open crown and the ATP throne to Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner is back in action in Beijing. World no. 2 is eager to make a statement and chase his second crown in the Chinese capital within three years.
Sinner took a short break after New York and returned to the practice court ahead of Asian swing. The Italian took a lesson from his latest defeat to Alcaraz. He feels refreshed and ready to test his progress in Beijing and Shanghai.
The 24-year-old will face Marin Cilic in the first round in Beijing, hoping for a strong start and a display of his most recent improvements. Marin should be a real test, entering the duel as a seasoned rival capable of troubling anyone on his day.

Jannik left the US Open final defeat and spent last weeks fine-tuning his game, particularly his serve. That element let him down against Alcaraz, and the four-time Major winner wants to change that ahead of their upcoming duels.
The San Candido native has been adding new dimensions to his tennis, aiming to become even more efficient and adaptable in key moments, the feature he lacked at Flushing Meadows.
Sinner's charge starts from Beijing, with world no. 2 returning to this event for the third straight year. He lifted a trophy over Carlos Alcaraz and Daniil Medvedev in 2023, prevailing over the Russian in two tie breaks.
Jannik returned to Beijing a year ago and reached another final after a couple of comebacks. He faced Alcaraz in the title clash and suffered a tight loss in one of the most thrilling ATP finals of recent years.

Carlos will not challenge Jannik this year, and the Italian stands as the favorite to lift his third title of the season, the first outside Majors. After that, world no. 2 will head to Shanghai and seek his first Masters 1000 crown in a year.
With his confidence restored and improvements tested in practice, Jannik looks prepared to carry his practice-court momentum and compete at a high level in the closing stages of the season.
