Robert Whittaker set for UFC analyst debut at Perth card

by

Robert Whittaker is headed to UFC Perth this weekend!

But he will be trading his gloves for a microphone this weekend. The former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Middleweight champion will be part of the broadcast desk for UFC Perth, marking his official debut as an analyst. MMAJunkie was first to reveal the news.

It’s a natural fit for “The Reaper” as the UFC vet has already shown his comfort behind the camera with his work on UFC on FOX Australia and through his long-running weekly podcast, where he regularly breaks down fights and discusses the nuances of competition. His ability to articulate high-level strategy while keeping it accessible for fans makes him an easy addition to the UFC broadcast team.

Whittaker now joins the growing list of active and former fighters stepping into analyst roles. Recent years have seen Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson, Kamaru Usman, Dustin Poirier, and others transition seamlessly from the Octagon to the analyst desk, giving fans a fighter’s perspective on everything from game plans to in-cage adjustments.

For Whittaker, the new gig doesn’t signal retirement — the Australian fan-favorite remains firmly in the Middleweight mix (he wants to fight Sean Strickland next) — but it does give him another platform to showcase the fight IQ that helped make him one of the longest-reigning 185-pound champions in UFC history. It also opens the door for a future beyond active competition.

Expect Whittaker to bring the same level of insight and professionalism to the analyst desk in Perth that he’s carried throughout his storied UFC career.

UFC Perth goes down this Saturday (Sept. 27, 2025) inside AC Arena in Perth, Australia, headlined by a Light Heavyweight showdown between No. 3-ranked Carlos Ulberg and former two-time title challenger Dominick Reyes.
