The Legends Tour's only stop in Germany, where the WINSTONgolf Senior Open will take place from September 26th to 28th, featuring Costantino Rocca and Emanuele Canonica.
On the course at the WINSTONgolf Golf Club in Gneven, the star will be local hero Bernhard Langer, the great German champion with 125 career victories, 42 on the European Tour (now the DP World Tour) and an all-time record 47 on the US PGA Tour Champions, where the 68-year-old from Anhausen remains highly competitive.
Legends Tour, schedule
The field includes six top-ten players, with England's Peter Baker (No. 3) and South Africans Keith Horne (No. 2) and James Kingston (No. 4) among the favorites, like Langer, along with Sweden's Mikael Lundberg, England's Simon Griffiths, and Brazil's Adilson Da Silva, who follow them in the rankings. Also not to be forgotten are Austria's Markus Brier, England's Van Phillips, the defending champion, Greg Owen, Matthew Cort, and Simon Khan, Scotland's David Drysdale, New Zealand's Mark Brown, and Germany's Thomas Gogele, who will defend his title at San Domenico Golf in the upcoming Sergio Melpignano Senior Italian Open (October 23-25). Several pros will also be competing in the German tournament, including Sweden's Helen Alfredsson and Germany's Elisabeth Esterl.
Rocca is competing for the second time this year, while Canonica is coming off a seventh-place finish in the previous European Legends Cup, her third top-ten finish of the season after finishing second in the Reignwood Legends Championship and fifth in the OFX Irish Legends.
The rules of golf are relatively complicated compared to other sports because they are played outdoors, close to nature and animals. Respecting the rules is a fundamental element in the game of golf, which, almost always based on self-control and the free conscience of the players, often sees distorted results, sometimes consciously, but often unconsciously or through carelessness, due to the failure of many players to comply with the rules of the game. In addition to the rules, golf adheres to a code of conduct, known as etiquette, which generally means playing the game with due respect for the golf course and other players. Etiquette is an essential component of this sport.
