BYU added another commitment to its 2026 football recruiting class this week, when star Lehi running back Devaughn Eka made his pledge to the Cougars.

He is the first running back commit in the class.

Eka is off to a stellar senior season so far, having rushed for 577 yards and 10 touchdowns while adding 224 receiving yards and three more scores.

3 things to know about Devaughn Eka

At the time Eka committed to BYU, he had 10 scholarship offers, according to 247 Sports. It’s a group that includes Utah State, San Diego State, San Jose State and UNLV, as well as Weber State.

Thus far, BYU is the lone power conference scholarship offer for Eka, who is rated a three-star recruit with an 0.8544 grade in 247 Sports’ composite rankings.

Eka, who is listed at 5-foot-11 and 185 pounds, is closing in on 3,000 rushing yards in his high school career. He sits at 2,829 yards and has scored 33 career rushing touchdowns, with four more regular-season games (and the playoffs) this season.

Eka has 12 100-plus-yard rushing games in his high school career.

He’s also a receiving threat. Eka has 77 career receptions for 762 yards and eight touchdowns.

Eka has shown a big-play ability throughout his time at Lehi.

He has five touchdowns this season of 20 or more yards, or 38.4% of his touchdowns as a senior. Four of those are runs.

Over his high school career, Eka has 16 touchdowns of 20 yards or more, 11 of which are runs.

During his junior season, he had eight such touchdowns, including runs of 61, 46, 77, 46, 48 and 62 yards, in addition to touchdown receptions of 36 and 37 yards.

Of his 41 career touchdowns (both rushing and receiving), 39% have come from 20 or more yards and 26.8% (11 in total) from 40 or more yards.
