Louie Sutherland might be going for an Oscar.
A man with hulking size and a large sense of humor, Sutherland put both in display in a promo video he recently posted on Instagram. Although he perhaps looks like a character best suited for Game of the Thrones, Sutherland brought modern-day Peaky Blinder vibes as he set the scene in an English pub.
Sutherland tires Australian beer before calling it “piss” out of disgust. The phone rings and Sutherland answers with a laugh-out-loud funny, “Dana? Dana who? All right, Sunshine. Calm down.” The promo ends with a the murder of a poor kangaroo – well, an inflatable one.
The cadence. The cuts. The pans. The slight coloration tint. Even the music. This is top-tier.
With the UFC housing an estimated 600-700 fighters on its roster at any given moment, it’s hard to stick out. Sutherland has gone the extra mile and found a way to do that before he even steps inside the cage.
He debuts Saturday at UFC Fight Night 260 vs. Justin Tafa in Perth. Let’s see if he can fight as good as he can act.
