Hubert Hurkacz shuts down 2025 season, eyes fresh comeback in 2026

by

Hubert Hurkacz has officially brought his 2025 season to a close. The Polish star, who underwent arthroscopic knee surgery in July, announced that he will not compete in the remaining events of the season.

The former world no. 6 aims full recovery and a strong comeback in January 2026. The extended break from tennis will keep Hurkacz outside the top-50 in the year-end ranking for the first time since 2018.

Hubert has not played since 's-Hertogenbosch in June. He made a winning start at the grass-court event before withdrawing ahead of the second-round clash due to a back issue. A few weeks later, the Pole underwent knee surgery.

The eight-time ATP champion addressed ongoing discomfort that had limited his progress and prevented him from chasing big results. In his message to fans, Hurkacz expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support and encouraging words about his rehabilitation.

The Pole explained he feels well, with everything developing as planned. Hubert is already in the gym and on the practice court, working with physiotherapist and aiming a fresh start in 2026.

With steady steps forward, the former Masters 1000 champion now shifts his focus to a full-strength return in 2026, eager to restore his place among the tennis elite.

Is he capable of making deep runs at notable tournaments next year? Without a doubt, especially if he recovers completely and finds his A-game already in January, likely at the United Cup.

"Dear All, I would like to thank you very much for all the messages, support and kind words I receive from you. This is extremely important to me and gives me a lot of energy.

I feel good, everything is going as it should and looks really positive. Every day I work with my team in the gym, on the court and with physiotherapist.

I know that in order to return to tournaments and compete at the highest level, I need to be prepared 110%. That is why the best decision is to start in the next season – fully ready to fight.

Thank you for being with me and see you soon at the tournaments!" Hubert Hurkacz wrote.
