In an official statement released by the Asian Cricket Council, the ACC President and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman, Mohsin Naqvi, expressed his excitement over handing over the trophy to the Asia Cup 2025 champions.

The final of the Asia Cup 2025 will be played between the India National Cricket Team and Pakistan National Cricket Team at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday, September 28.

“This year’s Asian Cup has been a magnificent display of cricketing excellence and talent,” Naqvi said.

“The passion of the fans, the competitive spirit of the Asian teams, and the incredible performances on the field have made this a truly memorable event. We are set to see record viewership numbers, which is a testament to the growing popularity of cricket across the continent.”

“I’m excited to witness a great final and look forward to handing over the trophy to the winners tomorrow.”

India to reject taking the trophy from Mohsin Naqvi?

Alongside being the chairman of PCB and president of ACC, Mohsin Naqvi is also the Interior Minister of Pakistan, and he has been constantly targeting India with his pathetic comments.

He recently provided backing to Haris Rauf doing the disguising ‘jet-down’ celebration by sharing a video of Cristiano Ronaldo’s goal celebration depicting a plane crash.

Also, he filed a complaint with the ICC to ban match referee Andy Pycroft after a no-handshake row in India vs Pakistan clash, but the Jay Shah-led body turned down the request. Also, he complained about Suryakumar Yadav dedicating India’s win to the Armed Forces and showing solidarity with the families of the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack, and wanted him to be banned from the Asia Cup 2025 final.

Amid all these controversies and India maintaining a no-handshake policy against Pakistan, it is unclear whether the Indian players will engage in any kind of interactions with Mohsin Naqvi during the post-match presentation ceremony.

“As of now, information is that he will come this evening and obviously, as ACC chairman, he will be giving away the winner’s trophy. Let’s see what the BCCI decides,” a tournament insider told PTI on condition of anonymity.

Abhishek Sharma to destroy Pakistan in the final?

The young opening batsman Abhishek Sharma has been in good form in the Asia Cup 2025, and he has already scored over 300 runs. In two matches against Pakistan, he registered scores of 31 and 74 to destroy the Men in Green. Now, the former leg-spinner Amit Mishra has backed him to continue his good form in the summit clash against Pakistan.

“His form is a very good thing. The best thing is that there is an improvement from him in every match. In the last match (when India faced Pakistan in Super Fours) he went up to 70 (74). I want that any set batter in T20s should play for a long time in a match and go on to finish it for the team.”

“It’s because if a new batter comes in a T20 game, and then one or two wickets fall, then that’s a lot of pressure. So I want this improvement from him to increase and try to play as long as possible. The best thing is that when I saw him earlier, he didn’t hit such big shots.”

This improvement has come in him and you will see that he doesn’t play any extra shots. He plays cricketing shots and has the ability to play them and he’s doing that. I felt good to see that he is playing on his ability, performing well and taking his team to a good level,” said Mishra in an exclusive conversation with IANS.
