It was a big event as Michigan football managed to secure a top-flight commit from SEC country, even if it took a minute before the public knew about it.
2026 Carrollton (Ga.) four-star cornerback Dorian Barney had announced for the Wolverines on a live broadcast, only, he never said the school and the camera didn’t follow him to the maize and blue-themed celebration away from the original shot.

All in all, it might have been fitting, as Barney is no longer in the class.
Barney has had a bit of a wandering eye early in the 2025 college football season, taking several visits to schools closer to home. And he ultimately felt that Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss had more to offer him, as he flipped his commitment from the Wolverines to the Rebels on Sunday night.
Without Barney in the fold, Michigan football has but one cornerback committed in the 2026 class in Richmond (Va.) Hermitage four-star Andre Clarke. The Wolverines have been working on some other prospects committed elsewhere, but with the season in full swing, it’s difficult to envision if the maize and blue will flip anyone yet or not.
