Cory Sandhagen caught the moment he got the call to fight Merab Dvalishvili on camera.
Sandhagen (18-5 MMA, 11-4 UFC) challenges Dvalishvili (20-4 MMA, 13-2 UFC) for the bantamweight title in Saturday’s UFC 320 (pay-per-view, FX/ESPNews/Disney+, ESPN+) co-main event at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
It was UFC Executive Hunter Campbell who delivered the news to an excited Sandhagen. Watch his reaction below.
“Cute lil vid of me getting the call to fight for the title. I was making a dumb skit at the time. Hell yeah. Next week we bring the title home, buddy.”
Sandhagen already had one crack at gold in the past when he fought Petr Yan for the interim bantamweight title at UFC 267 in October 2021. After winning the first round, Sandhagen was ultimately outlasted by Yan in a unanimous decision loss.
