The hype and excitement around the Iowa basketball team this season is already palpable.

With new head coach Ben McCollum, an almost entirely new roster led by star point guard Bennett Stirtz, and a new era of Hawkeye basketball on the horizon, fans haven’t been this excited about the team in years. And they’ll get their first chance to learn more about the 2025-26 iteration of Iowa basketball at the first fall media availability. The date of that availability was announced on Monday.

Brad Schultz of the Daily Iowan was the first to report that the first official media availability of the season for Iowa basketball will be on October 15.

The first official media availability is a great opportunity for fans to hear from the coaching staff and players about their thoughts on the upcoming season, who’s looking good in practice, and which players might be flying under the radar. It’s the first of many peaks behind the curtain into the program, and with a new head coach and roster in place, this media availability will be incredibly interesting.

Fans can follow along here at Hawkeyes Wire for up-to-the-minute updates from that media availability as the Hawkeyes get ready for their 2025-26 season to tip off. Iowa will open the season and the Ben McCollum era on November 4 when it hosts Robert Morris.
