Women’s NCAA tournament Final Four in Indianapolis moving to NFL stadium in 2028

The interest in women’s basketball is expanding, and to fill that need, the Final Four in Indianapolis will move to a larger venue in 2028.

The NCAA’s Division I Women’s Basketball Committee voted to play the future women’s Final Four in Lucas Oil Stadium instead of Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

It is scheduled to be the first women’s Final Four in an active NFL stadium in more than 20 years. The women’s Final Four has also been hosted in the RCA Dome, the Alamodome and the Georgia Dome.

Interest in women’s basketball has been high. The 2025 women’s Final Four in Tampa brought in fans from all 50 states and 23 countries, while all the games at Amalie Arena drew a combined 39,508 fans, marking the highest total since 2019.

The total tournament attendance reached 351,777, the third-highest all-time mark. It marked the fourth straight tournament to top 315,000, a run previously matched only from 2001 to 2004.

The women’s Final Four will be heading to Phoenix in 2026 and will be held at PHX Arena.
