Becky Hammon was assessed a technical foul during the second quarter of Game 5 of the WNBA semifinals.

The Las Vegas Aces coach was irate with the officials and walked onto the floor during a timeout to express her displeasure. The referee listened to Hammon for a few seconds, motioned for her to stop and when she didn’t, he blew his whistle and gave her a technical. Hammon returned to the bench and took the clipboard from her assistant coach, then turned heel and resumed yelling at the officials. Her staff intervened and ushered her back to the bench.

This comes a day after Hammon (and Fever coach Stephanie White) was fined $1,000 for comments critical of the officiating Sunday.

The longtime coach spoke in support of suspended Minnesota Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve during her pregame news conference, then criticized how Game 4 was officiated postgame.

“I did appreciate it was a little tighter call,” Hammon said. “But tighter on both ends would have been nice.”

When A’ja Wilson described the foul discrepancy as “interesting,” Hammon responded: “By interesting, do you mean that’s shit?”
