Jack Perry Addresses AEW Promo That Was Ruined by Taco Bell Commercial Cut-In

by

Jack Perry is back in AEW—but he’s not forgetting a promo disaster that aired during the August 7, 2024 episode of Dynamite.

In a recent interview with TVInsider, Perry opened up about how one of his most personal and creatively driven vignettes got completely derailed on national television.

Perry, who spent months refining his dark “Scapegoat” persona, talked about taking matters into his own hands by filming his own promos. He even enrolled in an eight-week film course to sharpen his skills. One segment in particular required him to drive across Los Angeles hunting down vintage TVs to bring his vision to life. Everything was ready. The vibe was locked in. And then… it aired.

“Later, for AEW, I filmed this thing with nine TVs I had to drive all over Los Angeles to find along with all this stuff. It was me and one of my buddies who filmed it. Then someone botched and ruined it by putting a Taco Bell commercial in the middle, but anyways.”

That awkward moment happened on the August 7th episode of Dynamite, when fans were treated to a surprise Taco Bell spot that cut straight through Perry’s intense promo. For a guy who went the extra mile—literally—to craft a cinematic package, the interruption was a slap in the face.

The incident is a reminder that even in the world of professional wrestling, creative control can get hijacked by commercial breaks. And in this case, it wasn’t a chair shot that derailed the segment—it was a Crave Box.

Perry has since returned to AEW alongside Luchasaurus, reviving Jurassic Express with more clarity and vision than ever. But this promo screw-up? Yeah, that one still stings.
