Oct. 1—One of New Mexico’s more memorable days in recent memory has already yielded a commitment.
Linebacker Jordan Njoku committed to UNM on Monday via social media, the first public pledge to the Lobos since they beat rival New Mexico State in front of a sold out crowd of 37,440 on Saturday.

“Had a great (official visit) weekend and wanted to announce my 1,000% commitment to the University of New Mexico!” Njoku posted on X.
A 6-foot-3, 225-pound senior at Culver City (Calif.) High School, Njoku picked UNM over offers from Cal Poly, Portland State and Delaware State. He was one of six recruits hosted on an official visit by the Lobos on Saturday. More prospects were in attendance on unofficial visits.
“We had a couple guys who were committed to other schools that still wanted to check us out,” head coach Jason Eck said Saturday. “So it was an awesome recruiting weekend. And that’s as good of a recruiting tool as you can have, to see a sold out crowd like that.”
Some of the other recruits who took visits — official or unofficial — to UNM over the weekend include:
