Mohammed Siraj channels Ronaldo’s ‘Siu’ after dismissing Brandon King in Ahmedabad Test
On the last ball of 10th over, Siraj bowled a full delivery outside off to Brandon King, who had been leaving the previous few deliveries that swung back in. However, this time King misjudged it, leaving a delivery that was not wide enough. The ball hit the middle stump, sending King back for just 13 runs and leaving the West Indies at 39/3. Siraj’s disciplined line and length set up the wicket beautifully. After having induced the inward movement for the previous deliveries, he deceived King with the full ball just outside off. The batter’s poor judgment led to his undoing, as the stumps were shattered. Siraj, visibly elated, responded to the breakthrough with a memorable ‘Siu’ celebration, famously popularized by football legend Cristiano Ronaldo. The bowler’s enthusiasm added an extra layer of energy to the moment, energizing both his team and the crowd.

West Indies struggle as Siraj takes three before lunch on Day 1 of the Ahmedabad Test
West Indies found themselves in deep trouble early on Day 1 of the first Test against India at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. After electing to bat first, they were reduced to 105/6 by the end of the second session, with Siraj delivering a spectacular performance, claiming three wickets before lunch. The West Indies top-order was sent packing by Siraj’s fiery spell, where he dismissed John Campbell, Tagenarine Chanderpaul and King, all inside the first 10 overs.
The visitors were stifled by the relentless pressure from India’s bowlers, and it was a combination of poor judgment and disciplined bowling that contributed to their downfall. Siraj was the star of the session, with his excellent seam movement and precision. He was the first to strike, removing Chanderpaul and Campbell cheaply. His most notable wicket came when he cleaned up King with a superb delivery that breached his defenses, leaving the West Indies 39/3. His fiery spell left the West Indies in disarray, and they never quite recovered from the early onslaught. Siraj’s sensational figures of 4/32 in 10 overs, alongside Kuldeep Yadav’s sharp spin, left the West Indies on the back foot as they struggled to rebuild their innings.
